Grace’s ballerina birthday

One of our most popular parties to date, we just had to share Grace’s 5th birthday with you in all of it’s pink, perfect glory.

When Grace turned five this year and loving ballet as much as she does, it was no surprise she requested a ballet themed birthday.

Complete with twirling ribbons, pink ruffles and dancing cupcakes, the celebration was every little ballerina’s dream. A festival of all things pink and pretty, as long as there was lots of sparkle, Grace was always going to love it.

We knew the party had begun when a wave of tulle skirts and ballet slippers engulfed the house. Little ballerinas danced and played with Emma the ballerina who had them enthralled with all manner of ballet antics including pass the parcel, musical statues and musical chairs.

We love the idea of creating beautiful things that can be used beyond just the birthday celebration. This was the inspiration behind  creating the unique banner on the backdrop of the table. This now hangs proudly in Grace’s as a permanent feature on her wall. We love it. The same can be said for the ballerina figurine we found in a $2 shop. We made a simple little tutu for her and takes pride of place on Grace’s bedside table.

Vintage-inspired Lovely Lace pastel pink paper plates and cups tied in perfectly with our ballet theme along with the Beautiful Ballerina printables and customized back-drop bunting designed and created by inviteme. For a little extra sparkle we adorned our printable hats, sign and chocolates with ribbon, tulle and flowers from our local craft store. Nothing like a bit of cut and pasting to add that extra shine to your printables range!

We always involve our children in our party planning. Grace is obsessed with ballet and she was adamant that this was to be the theme of her birthday. She loves glittery things so that element was key to our party as well. Without stating the obvious, it’s all about the organization. I set up mini deadlines and stuck to these. The great thing about doing it this way is that the workload doesn’t mount up in the end and the event rolled out smoothly.
